Nina Berman

Nina is a Classical Pilates instructor, and has been working with students all over New York City for over 15 years. She has been practicing Pilates since she was a child seriously studying dance. Moved by how Pilates had changed her life, Nina decided to pursue teaching through the acclaimed Classical school Power Pilates, working there with master teachers Bob Liekens and Susan Moran, while continuing outside study with master teacher Daniel Lyon. Nina received her certification in 2006 at 19 years old, becoming the school’s then-youngest teacher. As an instructor, first at Power Pilates and Great Neck Pilates, then at Equinox Fitness, Nina has worked with hundreds of people, ranging from children to competitive weight lifters, from physical therapy patients to marathon runners, from grandparents to new moms, from sedentary individuals to seasoned athletes, and everything in between!

Nina’s first exposure to the Pilates Method came when she was around 10 years old: she had been dancing since the age of four, and when it was discovered that she had moderate scoliosis, her family turned to Classical Pilates rather than a back brace. Through this method, Nina’s curvature was reduced by almost 20 degrees and her back pain all but vanished. In her teaching, Nina hopes to convey how revolutionary Pilates is: movement heals, and neuromuscular learning is a skill that anyone can develop. Pilates is good for everybody and every body!

Nina holds both a Bachelors of Music and Masters of Music from the Manhattan School of Music, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the CUNY Graduate Center. She lives in New York City with her spouse and two cat-children.
